B.Tech

B. Tech

B.Tech, which stands for Bachelor of Technology, is an undergraduate degree program awarded in the field of engineering and technology. The content covered in a B.Tech program can vary depending on the specialization or branch of engineering chosen by the student. However, there are some core subjects and common topics that are typically included in most B.Tech programs. Here is an overview of the content covered in a typical B.Tech curriculum:

SR NO. Department Available Seats Duration
1 Computer Science Engineering 60 4 Year
2 Information Technology  30 4 Year
3 Electrical Engineering 60 4 Year
4 Mechanical Engineering 60 4 Year
5 Civil Engineering 60 4 Year
6

Electronics & Communication Engineering

60 4 Year
6 Agricultural Engineering 30 4 Year

Mathematics:

B.Tech programs usually include several courses in mathematics, including calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, probability and statistics, numerical methods, and discrete mathematics. These courses provide a strong mathematical foundation for engineering principles and applications.

Physics:

Basic principles of physics such as mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetism, and quantum physics are taught to provide a fundamental understanding of physical phenomena and their applications in engineering.

Chemistry:

Fundamental concepts of chemistry, including atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, and chemical reactions, are covered to understand the chemical aspects related to engineering materials and processes.

Computer Science:

Introduction to computer programming, data structures, algorithms, and computer organization are usually part of the B.Tech curriculum. These courses equip students with programming skills and an understanding of computer systems.

Engineering Mechanics:

This subject covers the principles of statics and dynamics, including forces, equilibrium, motion, and the behavior of solids and fluids. It forms the basis for understanding the mechanical behavior of structures and machines.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering:

This branch covers topics such as circuit analysis, electronic devices and circuits, digital electronics, signals and systems, power systems, and electrical machines. It provides a foundation for understanding electrical and electronic systems.

Mechanical Engineering:

Subjects in mechanical engineering include thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, manufacturing processes, machine design, and robotics. These topics focus on understanding the principles and applications of mechanical systems.

Civil Engineering:

Civil engineering subjects cover areas such as structural analysis and design, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering, and construction management. It deals with the design and construction of infrastructure and buildings.

Other Specializations:

B.Tech programs also offer specialization options such as computer science and engineering, information technology, electronics and communication engineering, aerospace engineering, biotechnology, and more. Each specialization has its own set of core subjects and elective courses.

Admission 2023 AKTU: Minor Degree Course for B.Tech
(As per New Education Policy)

First year students taking admission in BTech from the new academic session will be able to study new subjects along with their original subjects. Students will get the opportunity to study Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, Waste Technology, Robotics and other additional subjects along with the basic branch of BTech to diversify the new knowledge and courses. For this study, students will be given a minor degree along with a basic degree.

The new session 2022-23 of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Provisional University (AKTU) will see major changes in the B.Tech syllabus. For the first time, under the National Education Policy 2020, the option of granting a minor degree in another subject has been given along with the basic degree of B. The subjects of minor degree have been fixed for the students taking admission in B.Tech. In the meeting of the Academic Council of AKTU, 10 new subjects have been added with the B.Tech syllabus for the minor degree

What is minor degree

Dean UG AKTU Prof. Girish Chandra said that along with the basic studies the student is pursuing, the additional subject information is being given in the form of a minor degree. These changes have been made under the National Education Policy 2020.

Which students will be able to take admission in which course?
Minor degree qualification

Course Eligibility
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Students of all branches (Except CSE and EC branch)
Data Science Students of all branches (Except CSE and EC branch)
Internet of Things Students of all branches (except CSE and EC branch)
Green Technology and Sustainability Engineering Students of all branches (except civil and chemical engineering)
Waste Technology Students of all branches (Except Chemical Engineering)
Energy Engineering Students of all branches (except Mechanical Engineering branch)
Robotics All Students (Except Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering)
Electric Vehicles All Students (Except Mechanical & Electrical Engineering)
Universal Human Values Students of all branches

AKTU Dean (UG) Prof. Girish Chandra said, ‘The subjects of the minor degree have been finalized in the meeting of the Vidya Parishad. Along with this, all the institutes, departments, officials and faculty members have been asked to inform about the arrangements for getting B.Tech.

Information on degree
Minor degree will be marked on the degree of candidates having minor degree with B.Tech course. Like in B.Tech Mechanical after first year student choose Data Science Minor degree then degree will be B.Tech Mechanical Engineering with Minor Degree in Data Special things

• Each minor degree course will consist of one track of five subjects (18-20 credits). Which will be conducted in the fourth to eighth semester as one additional subject per semester.
• BTech students will be able to choose a minor degree related to a different branch from their parent branch according to their interest.
• The option to opt for a minor degree will be available to the students during the third semester after completing two semesters or at the time of registration for the fourth semester.
• Students have to complete the basic branch of the course along with the prescribed syllabus for the minor degree.
• If a student opts for a minor degree and is not able to complete the prescribed course, he/she will only get a B.Tech degree.
